Abstract:Design plays a significant role in realizing the beautiful Chinese Dream and is closely tied to social construction. Courses are the core carriers of education and are crucial for moral education as well as professional development. In the context of curriculum ideological and political education, it is evident that the goal of design education and teaching is to impart professional knowledge while integrating ideological and political elements throughout the entire teaching process, achieving the objective of synergy between knowledge and value transfer. Taking the characteristic course “Special Design of Chinese Garden” as an example, and addressing the current issue of insufficient local characteristics in the design education of architecture majors, we deeply explore and practice the ideological and political themes of “inheritance, reference, and inspiration, conducting lessons through “chapters that explain gardens and scenery, cite classics, and bring forth the new through the old”, guiding students to experience gardens, inherit the essence of classical gardens, and inspire modern landscape creation. With a confident presentation of teaching content, a diverse and engaging teaching process, and a comfortable teaching experience, the goals of curriculum ideological and political teaching in design courses are achieved. This serves as an example for the ideological and political education related to design, encouraging students to draw design inspiration from the rich Chinese culture, and advancing design education to cultivate well-rounded professional talents under the guidance of ideological and political education, which helps the design discipline to grow steadily and demonstrate its value in cultural inheritance and innovation.
