Abstract:Pocket parks provide citizens with more recreational places on their doorstep, but their management problems also arise. Taking Shanghai pocket park as an example, this paper investigates the construction status and analyzes the main problems faced by its management. It is found that there are some problems in Shanghai pocket parks, such as uneven distribution, poor landscape appearance of a few pocket parks, diversification of construction subjects and maintenance subjects, apparent differences in maintenance costs, low participation of volunteers, and repeated prohibitions on uncivilized park visits. Four coping strategies applicable to the management optimization of Shanghai pocket parks are proposed: improving construction quality, improving supporting facilities, clarifying management methods, and innovating social participation.
