Abstract:A neighborhood park is a critical type of urban green space in China, with social attributes such as culture, education, and neighborhood interaction. However, there are few practices of public participation or multi-party participation in the place-making of neighborhood parks in China, leaving plenty of opportunities to explore. From the perspective of environmental education, the project described in this paper explores the pro-environmental atmosphere of neighborhood parks. Furthermore, it explores the cooperation mechanism of universities, governments, parks, residents, social organizations, and individuals. The project takes Beijing Shuangxiu Park as the empirical research object and sets up a strategy according to the actual situation of Shuangxiu and the local community. By introducing environmental planning, building cooperation mechanisms, and improving park operators’ awareness and execution ability on environmental education and place-making, the project makes the park tangible, intangible, and people scape of this park. The result indicates: Environmental education can help create a pro-environmental atmosphere, the contents of which are closely related. A multi-party cooperation mechanism can promote park operation. ‘Place making’ mode is suitable for a neighborhood park, and fostering park operators is essential to long-term effect. The project combines place-making theory and practice and provides practical experience for practitioners and researchers of similar projects.
