Faced with the disappearance of place spirit in historical and cultural cities during the process of urban construction and renewal in country, the article tried to propose a feasible revival path of historical and cultural citiesbased on the concept of the placespirit. Following the logical route of theoretical research, problem analysis, model construction, and case verification, the ideas of spiritual revival of historical and cultural cities is condensed with historical culture as the base, characteristic environment as the framework, local communities as expressions, and regional life as the stage. Analyze the specific problems faced by the Hancheng ancient city of Shanxi from four aspects: rupture of historical context, injury of the original space, loss of original residents, and imbalance in the relationship between residence and tourism. Combined with the main value characteristics of the ancient city, the specific model of placespiritrevivalinHancheng ancient city was put forward. It clearly shows the application and evolution of the model framework in actual cases. It aims to coordinate the relationship between cultural protection, environmental improvement, tourism development, heritage management and community cultivation, and provides innovation ideas and strategy for protecting the foundation of the value and characteristics of the historical and cultural cities.
