Abstract:The old community renewal under the concept of “people’s city” emphasizes the dominant position of residents in the spatial renewal, emphasizes taking “good life” as the goal, pays attention to the self-participation degree and spatial relationship of community residents, and encourages the construction of self-hematopoietic healthy community. From the perspective of landscape architecture, based on the residents’ demand orientation and participatory design concept, the paper studies the five major needs of residents in the public space of the old communities, records and analyzes the residents’ behavior and activities in the space, and puts forward ways of micro renewal of old community landscape, such as the excavation of community culture and the authenticity of life, the integration and utilization of fragmented space, the intervention and activation of community catalyst, and the participatory design and construction of the old community landscape. Taking the participatory design of Changying small and micro green space in Beijing as an example, the paper aims to provide a new design reference for the renewal of old communities.
