Abstract:As one of the first batches of pilot cities to systematically construct pocket parks, Quanzhou has attracted people’s attention due to the considerable number and speed of pocket park construction. This article adopted the Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to construct a comprehensive evaluation system for the pocket parks from aesthetic effects, ecological benefits, and behavior perception. This paper comprehensively evaluates seven pocket parks in Quanzhou from qualitative and quantitative perspectives. The results showed that: (1) the criterion layer’s behavioral perception was the most critical factor affecting a pocket park’s landscape evaluation. The accessibility of gardens, the safety of greenspace, and the intuitive feeling of microclimate comfort were essential factors. (2) three of the seven parks scored more than 8 points, and the landscape effect was good. But there were two below 7 points which needed to taking seriously. This paper put forward some measures to improve Quanzhou pocket parks’ construction based on the evaluation results. It concludes improving accessibility, service facilities, promoting plant landscape sceneries, using ecological gardening techniques, paying attention to park maintenance and management, etc.
