There are some problems exist in the development and construction model of current “closed” residential block, such as artificial fragmentation of urban space, difficulties of coordinating public environmental facilities, easily leading to ecological damage and the same urban landscape, etc. It can no longer meet people’s needs for a better life in new era, and is not in accordance with the spirit of the central urban work conference. Based on the analysis of the existing problems of the development and construction model of “closed” residential block, through summing up the pilot experience of “custom building” in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing, this article explores the concept and characteristics of the new "open" residential development and construction mode, and takes the Longxing International Ecological New City project as an example to preliminarily study its planning and landscape design mode.
