Abstract:Japanese hotel courtyard is an important application of Japanese garden in modern urban landscape. It shows unique Japanese garden charm through its design concept and space creation. Taking the famous Westin Miyako Kyoto as an example, this paper introduces two courtyards in the hotel, AOI-DEN Garden and KASUI-EN Garden, which are listed in the Kyoto Cultural Property. This paper interprets the gardening techniques, appreciates the four seasons scenery, and explores the re ned management system, so as to analyze how the Japanese mountain hotel landscape integrates the natural mountain forest with the urban life. This will help us to understand the relationship between "nature" and "man-made" in the garden, and avoid separating them, in order to create landscape works that are adapted to local conditions, ingenious and have regional characteristics, and achieve the best balance between "manmade" and "nature".
