As an important part of Chinese traditional garden, temple garden is unique in artistic conception creation. This paper refers to the "picturesque observation method" proposed by scholarWang Xin, takes Yuantong Temple in Kunming as the object of study, and combines fieldwork with theoretical research, to analyze the basic garden element layers in the "picturesque observation method" from the aspects of architecture, waterscape, rockery etc, furthermore analyzing garden perspective in the "picturesque observation method" from the aspects of space sequence, space closing and opening, guidance and hint, infiltration and gradation etc. Overall this paper summarizes the unique design techniques of traditional temple garden in the creation of space artistic conception, which offers a certain reference value for the research of temple garden and the design of temple landscape.
